Qualify for the Petplan Equine Area Festivals

Qualifying for a Petplan Equine Area Festival is the perfect goal for many dressage riders. From Prelim to Inter II level, 24 Area Festivals will take place in 2019 from which qualification for eight Area Festival Finals can be achieved. The top horse and rider combinations from the Finals will then go on to compete in the Area Festival Championships at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire in April 2020. Here is how to qualify.

Registration

At Preliminary Bronze, riders can qualify for an Area Festival with a Club membership (£30) and a Club horse (£10) in the Bronze section you can use sheets from any Preliminary class towards qualification.

If you do qualify for a Petplan Equine Area Festival, you and your horse will need to become fully registered with British Dressage to take part. Click here to find out more about membership.

At all other levels horse and rider need full membership with British Dressage to qualify and then take part in any of the three rounds.

How to qualify for a Petplan Equine Area Festival

Preliminary, Novice and Elementary

You need three score sheets from BD affiliated shows with scores of 62% or above at Bronze level. In the Silver section, at least one score must come from a qualifying test labelled with a ‘Q’ in the schedule (see page 150 in the BD Member’s Handbook for a full list of qualifying tests).

Medium to Intermediate II

You need two score sheets from BD affiliated shows with scores of 60% or above. In the Silver section and Medium and Advanced Medium, at least one score must come from a qualifying test labelled with a ‘Q’ in the schedule (see page 150 in the BD Members’ Handbook for a full list of qualifying tests).

The qualification period starts 01 October 2018 and runs right up until two weeks before the closing date of the Area Festival you'd like to enter.
