Petplan Equine
Sponsored Rider - Lorna

"‘To Compete is to Win’ is the motto of Endurance, knowing I have the cover, protection and expert advice of Petplan Equine behind me enables my back room team of crew, vet, farrier, coaches, physio and of course myself, to give 100% to my horse and my sport and lead us to success – Together we tackle the miles."

Lorna Hogg

Lorna Hogg is from Aberdeenshire and competes in endurance riding.

Tell us about the horses you own.

De Marco is a 20 year old Thoroughbred Cross Welsh who is a fabulous riding club and endurance horse, I have owned Marco for 16 years and rode his Dam in the riding school I learnt to ride at, before she turned her hooves to motherhood. Cloughwood Gold Spangle is a 10 year old part Arab who is following in Marco’s footsteps and whilst she is a very different horse, she is great fun and doing well in both endurance and dressage - although she far prefers endurance.

What were your highlights from 2015 as a sponsored rider and what are your goals for 2016?

The highlights of 2015 as a sponsored rider have to be starting the 50th Anniversary Year Golden Horseshoe Endurance Ride and reaching the '5000km accumulative distance in Endurance competition' milestone with De Marco - especially in the superb surroundings of Balmoral Castle and Estate (Her Majesty The Queen's Scottish Residence).

For 2016 my goals for endurance with Spangle are to complete the 2* FEI at Haywood Oaks, achieve a gold award at the Scottish Horseshoe 2 day 180km in May and the Cairngorms 100 miles ride aiming for completion with high marks for condition. For Marco I want to keep him out competing locally at pleasure and 30km rides, riding club dressage and some veteran showing – most importantly keep him happy and healthy.
