Horse Insurance - Details of Cover

Summary

This policy offers flexible cover for horses and ponies participating in a wide range of activities. The veterinary fees benefit offers cover on a 12-month basis. This means it pays towards the cost of treatment for each unrelated condition for up to 12 months from the date of onset, or up to the maximum benefit, whichever is reached first.

Inclusive Cover

Pays up to the sum insured (or market value if less) following loss by death or euthanasia or by theft or straying, plus up to £300 towards the cost of advertising or reward following theft or straying.

Access to professional legal advice on any personal matter, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Optional Cover

Pays up to the maximum benefit towards legal costs and compensation in the event that you are found legally responsible for an accident, injury or death to a third party or damage to their property. The first £250 of claims for property damage is payable by the policyholder.

£1 million or £3 million per incident

Pays up to the maximum benefit for each unrelated condition including the cost of diagnostic investigation and treatment for illness or injury, including complementary treatment, as recommended by the attending vet.

£3,500 or £5,000 per condition for 12 months

Pays your horse's current value in the event that an injury or illness permanently prevents the insured horse participating in any one of its insured activities. This cover is available for horses aged 2 to 16 years, with a sum insured of £2,000 or over and those in Activity Group 3 or higher.

You can add this cover if your horse has a sum insured of £2,000 or over, is in Activity Group 3 or higher and is aged between 2 and 16 years.

Pays towards the cost of disposal following death or euthanasia, provided there is a valid claim under the death benefit.

Pays up to the maximum benefit following death or permanent disability to the rider or handler of the insured horse. This also covers up to £1,000 towards dental treatment for the rider or handler. See terms & conditions for full details.

Pays up to the maximum benefit following death or permanent disability to the rider or handler of the insured horse. £20,000 (Personal Accident) £1,000 (Dental)

Pays towards the cost of repair or replacement of lost or damaged saddlery and tack. The first £100 of each claim is payable by the policyholder.

£1,000 or sum insured if greater

Pays for the cost of repair to your trailer or horse-drawn vehicle, or up to the sum insured (or market value if less), if it is lost, stolen or destroyed, or if the cost of repair is more than it was worth before it was damaged. The first £100 of each claim is payable by the policyholder.

Sum insured
