April to June Update

Our competition season and our foaling season, has so far been a fairly successful one! We have had some super foals born already, with two left to foal next month. Our first was a beautiful Palomino filly, by Crowns Wonder Pearl, and then three absolutely adorable Ghost babies. As usual he has produced me some outstanding stock, I am so proud of him and all of them. We had a very sad affair with an outside made foaling down to an outside stallion, she aborted early at around 300 days, a dead foal presented backwards, with a condition that causes their joints to deform and fuse together. Thankfully the mare is doing well now.

Ghost went out to Port Elliot BE, he did well in the dressage, went clear show jumping and then he had a very cheeky stop on course! Golden rule that I always stick too - don't ever do a BE event as a first event. And I did - and he was a lemon. Lost a win there. Ghost was however, jumping better than ever. New trainer - new love. So I decided to bite the bullet and entered him into his unaffiliated ODE at BE100 level. He didn't disappoint, and loved it. We rode a great dressage, and a super double clear! It was a bit slow but we finished in 8th place; what a star!

Next, we entered BRCHT100 qualifier - and wow! We scored 18 in the dressage and personal best so we went into the lead. The show jumping course was challenging and no rider came away without fences down, so unfortunately we had three down but compared to other rides, that was good. We finished with a clear round cross county and we came in 5th place. He loved the challenge, and was such a super boy. Our next is affiliated, I know I decided to stop eventing him, but he is telling me he loves it more than ever so I will listen and play it by ear with him.

The stud side is still busy, we have mares still to cover and foals due to be born. I love this time of year, it's everything I ever wanted and dreamt of being lucky enough to own.

My lovely Wish Apon A Star gelding has gone to a friend further up the country, he didn't settle into my routine here and wasn't happy therefore it was the responsible thing to do to find a new owner. He is being enjoyed and loved up in Lincoln now, and in his place I have a new four year old sired by Ghost, who has already done his first ODE and came 2nd, so I am really excited about his future and I am hoping he will fit right in on my yard.
