January to March Update

Hello again! I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and so far; a successful new year! After a long gloomy winter, it finally looks like everything is picking up! Spring is here, and everything is, for the most part, going to plan.

Ghost has been out and about, making his start at Elementary and Medium. He won both his tests on his first outing, which I was really pleased with and we had some very positive comments. We then went out again at Elementary and Medium, again getting some good scores and comments! We have tried a new trainer for my show jumping, as it is no secret that I genuinely dislike this phase, and I must admit, so far I am loving it!

Ghost is staying sound after jumping, his leg scans have showed absolutely nothing, so I am thinking the soft ground took its toll a little towards the end of the season, so I have entered a local ODE to see how he copes, and we will go from there. It seems you can't take cross country out of a girl or her stallion!

I have been lucky enough to have a lovely new young event horse to produce for this season. He is a beautiful 17hh stamp, bred for one job, sired by Wish Apon a Star, bred by Lucy Wiegersma. He was going absolutely beautifully but then he cut his coronet band and has been lame for the last seven weeks. So that's extremely frustrating. Antibiotics galore and slowly he is getting sounder. Not the start I wanted with him, but things can only get better, and of course he is something exciting to look forward too for sure. I am hoping he will be my next Novice and above horse - but let's wait and see. On paper he seems promising.

Wup my young dressage filly will be put in foal. She isn't mature enough yet to withstand the work of backing, so I'm hoping a year out and joining my girls will help her, but again, plans can and will change.

My Tolegro filly is simply divine and looking spectacular. She will come in shortly for handling and getting ready for some shows, and will be aimed at the Futurities in the autumn.

My mares are starting to bag up now and we are getting everything ready for foaling. I have four of my own to foal, and three outside mares for owners to foal too. Very exciting, very stressful, but it is very rewarding to be able to foal owners' pride and joys!

Hopefully, by the next update, we will have lots of foal photos and competition results! It's all starting to get very exciting!
