Sponsored Rider Lili Brooksby-Dalby competes at Petplan Equine Area Festival

Petplan Equine sponsored rider Lili Brooksby-Dalby competed at the third Petplan Equine Area Festival of this 2016 season on her horse Fur Feather Fons in late August. The popular, regional dressage competition was hosted by Field House at Marchington in Staffordshire and classes ranged from Preliminary through to Intermediate I. Competitors have to qualify for an Area Festival by achieving a minimum of two scores of 60-62% or above in the qualifying period, an outstanding accomplishment in itself.

Lili and her horse known at home as Fons, scored 66.81% in the Novice Silver Class earning them fifth place. A delighted Lili commented, "The Petplan Equine Area Festival at Field House was really well organised with very well respected judges. Unfortunately my test on Saturday did not go as well as I had hoped. I made some mistakes and as a result his way of going was not as good as it could have been. I practised the Novice test that evening and was really pleased to be able to turn it around for the Sunday and post a strong result. We still have room for improvement, but the 70% feels very achievable now and I am proud of where we are."

The Petplan Equine Area Festivals or "Petplans" as they are known by dressage fans and competitors are held at a variety of top competition venues across the UK and gives riders the chance to compete under championship-style conditions, testing the skills of horse and rider combinations. The growth of the Petplan Equine Area Festivals reflects the fantastic support from British Dressage adding value to the competition schedule particularly for the amateur competitor.

Kate Hopkins, Marketing Executive commented, "We are very pleased for Lili and Fons, their result was an excellent achievement which I am sure they are very proud of. It is also particularly pleasing as Lili is on the Petplan Equine’s sponsored rider’s programme that was created to give back to our customers through supporting amateur riders across all the disciplines. This is Petplan Equine’s 18th year sponsoring the Area Festivals giving true amateur riders a taste of the big time! We congratulate all riders who qualified for the Area Festival at Field House and hope they enjoyed their day."
