Petplan Veterinary and Animal Charity Awards 2017

The Petplan Veterinary Awards and the Petplan and Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) Animal Charity Awards are back again, for their 17th and 5th year respectively. Nominations for these prestigious titles will open on Thursday 15 September 2016.

These awards recognise outstanding commitment to the welfare of animals and give horse and pet owners the chance to say thank you. The Petplan Veterinary Awards recognise the hard work and dedication of vets and the practice team and celebrate the fantastic job the veterinary profession does helping keep our horses and pets healthy. The Petplan & ADCH Animal Charity Awards celebrate the outstanding work that charity and not-for-profit organisations do to help rescue and rehome animals in need. You have until the 13 January 2017 to nominate the individual or team you think deserves one of these esteemed titles. Perhaps your vet went above and beyond to help you and your horse or pony in a time of need or maybe if you rehomed a pet you were impressed with the Animal Charity team, who work so hard to give animals the quality of life they deserve.

The winners will be chosen by a panel of independent judges, who are leading professionals within the veterinary and animal welfare sector. All of those nominated will receive a certificate they can proudly display to show the difference they are making and how valued they are within their community.

Andrew McDiarmid Equine Vet from Clyde Veterinary Group, Lanarkshire was nominated for Vet of the Year 2016 as he is hugely devoted to his job, an extremely accomplished surgeon whose enthusiasm is hard to match, he is highly driven and the service he offers his clients is amazing. People come from all over Scotland and the North of England just to visit him. One of his clients commented on her horse: "Norman was very ill, we thought we were going to lose him but Andrew operated on him, and thanks to his fantastic veterinary expertise he got through the surgery and made a good recovery."

Andrew enjoys the variety in his job and says that, "I have been extremely fortunate to deal with some fairly high profile horses but I often get the greatest satisfaction from seeing the pleasure in a child after their riding pony has been treated here".

Petplan’s Head of Marketing, Isabella von Mesterhazy commented, “The Petplan Veterinary and Animal Charity Awards provide a great opportunity for horse and pet owners to show their appreciation to the hard working individuals going the extra mile to help keep our animals healthy. These prestigious awards will be presented in April 2017 and it would be great to see nominations from the equestrian sector again this year.”
