CHARITY BEGINS AT PETPLAN - Nominate your favourite equine charity for the 2015 Petplan and ACDH Animal Charity Awards

With horse welfare central to its ethos, UK’s leading specialist insurer Petplan works with over 1,000 animal charities throughout the UK and its equine specialist sister brand, Petplan Equine is calling on the equine world to highlight the invaluable work of equine charities by nominating their favourite for the 2015 Petplan and ACDH Animal Charity Awards. Nominations open for the 2015 Animal Charity Awards on 3rd November, 2014.

The awards were launched in 2012 by Petplan in partnership with the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) to recognise the outstanding work of animal charities and not-for-profit organisations, their employees and volunteers based in the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands. In 2014 more than 5,500 nominations were received and the independent judging panel, which includes key industry representatives, had an extremely difficult task selecting two finalists and a winner for each category.

There are three awards:

Animal Charity Team of the Year

Animal charities work tirelessly to provide a better life for animals all over the UK. Petplan and ADCH are looking for a charity team that has worked particularly well together to bring a positive and noticeable change to the health and wellbeing of animals.

Animal Charity Volunteer of the Year

Without volunteers who give up their free time on a regular basis all charities would struggle to survive as staff, resources and finances would be stretched to the limit. Petplan and ADCH are looking for a dedicated volunteer who shows a real commitment to an animal charity.

Animal Charity Employee of the Year

Staff are the backbone of any animal charity and Petplan and ADCH are looking for a hard working employee who is passionate about their job, day in, day out and makes a difference to the rest of the staff and the work of the charity.

Three finalists for each category will be selected and invited to attend the Petplan and ADCH Animal Charity Awards evening in April 2015 where the winners will be announced.

"Horse welfare is at the heart of Petplan Equine and we work closely with equine charities throughout the UK," said Charlotte Collyer, Senior Marketing Executive. "Last year the Employee of the Year Award was won by Jenna Martyn, manager of the Blue Cross Horse Unit in Burford, Oxfordshire whose inspirational leadership helped the centre to rehome more than 50% more horses in 2013. We would like to make sure that equine charities get as many nominations as possible so we are asking horse lovers throughout the UK to go online and nominate their favourite equine charity."

To nominate a charity, team or individual who deserves to be recognised for their outstanding contribution to equine welfare go to www.petplan.co.uk/charityawards. Nominations open 3rd November 2014.
