Health

Health concerns can affect us in different ways. Below you'll find information on how you can continue to get your horse the care they need, whether you're going in to hospital or you're no longer able to look after them.

Your Horse's Care

Although it isn't covered by your policy, if you were to become unable to provide your horse's basic daily care needs, you'll need to consider who will provide this care instead. You might want to think about alternative livery options or employing freelance support. Make sure to confirm whoever you employ is insured to care for or ride your horse and are suitably qualified to do so.

Support discussing your policy

If you need someone else to talk to us on your behalf, you can add them as a ‘Nominated person’ by calling us on 0345 074 2676.

Alternatively, if you need to discuss a policy on behalf of someone else and they’re unable to contact us due to health reasons, we’ll need their Power of Attorney (POA) emailed to us. Please send the POA document to equineu@allianz.co.uk with the policy number and the full name of the person acting on the policy holder’s behalf.

Rehoming your horse

If you’ve had to rehome your horse, you may be able to change the ownership on your current policy to the new owner. Please call our team on 0345 074 2676 to give permission for your policy to be transferred. We’ll need the full name of the new owner and a password that you must share with them. Once complete, the new owner will need to call us to complete the transfer.

If the policy holder is unable to contact us, and if you're acting on behalf of the policy holder due to un-foreseen circumstances, we’ll need their Power of Attorney (POA) to get in touch. Please email the POA document to equineu@allianz.co.uk.

Within the email, please let us know if you’d like to:

  1. Cancel the policy. We’ll cancel the policy and confirm once this has been done.
  2. Transfer the policy into someone else’s name. If the policy is being moved into the name of the POA, this will be completed upon request. We may be able to move the policy into someone else’s name. The POA will need to provide the new owner’s full name and a password. This will need to be shared with the new owner. Once complete, the new owner will need to call us on 0345 074 2676 to complete the transfer.
