Chloe Hunter from Hunnington, Halesowen in West Midlands has won the Petplan Equine Advanced Medium Open Championship at the Petplan Equine Area Festival Finals on Daylight. After qualification at her local Petplan Equine Area Festival the pair spent the winter preparing for this prestigious event held at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire from 6th – 10th April 2016.

Daylight is a Dutch bred 8 year-old gelding sired by Don Jovi, owned and ridden by Chloe. The partnership clearly impressed the judges achieving a combination winning score of 73.28% over 4% ahead of second place.

Hunnington-based rider Chloe Hunter was delighted with Daylight’s performance in a highly charged atmosphere with some outstanding tests and exceptional combinations competing for the Petplan Equine Advanced Medium Open title. “It went really well, he was very reactive and listening – he really focussed on the job today. He’s got a trainable temperament and is cool and confident in his stride. He loves going to competitions because he’s a bit of a show-off. ” said Chloe. Trained by Charlotte Dujardin, who came especially to help her and Daylight warm up, Chloe has been working hard for this competition. “I’ve had full-on week of lessons with Charlotte perfecting everything as best we could” said Chloe.

Petplan Equine Area Festivals, now in their 17th year provide riders across the levels from Prelim to Intermediate I with the chance to experience the thrill of competing in true championship conditions. There are 19 Petplan Equine Area Festivals around the country with almost 4,000 horse and rider combinations taking part with the aim of qualifying and winning one of the coveted titles.
