Once the Olympics finished I headed home, mentally and physically fairly wiped - it was truly a once in a lifetime experience.

In the mean time ‘normal’ life ticked on and Lissa has rejigged her string. The young hunter project didn’t live up to expectations and has been swapped for a mare – we set out to find two Irish geldings and have somehow ended up with two Warmblood mares… The latest addition, called Daisyonfire, went with Vamos (now nicknamed Raffa after Lissa’s favourite tennis player) to a couple of Intros and a Pre Novice. Both, while green, went well and there is no one I would rather watch bring on a young horse.

It was farewell to Danny too. He’s gone to a lovely home in Wales where he’ll compete up to Novice level, which will suit him and his broken withers better. By chance, his departure was eased for Lissa by the unexpected offer of a new ride. Owned by the Sainsbury's, ‘Why Not’ or Jack, is an experienced Intermediate eventer and Lissa is loving him.

He’ll give her loads of experience but she’ll need her wits about her as he has a rather refined run out. They’ve already completed two Novices and Wellington's tough new intermediate. Bettina Hoy, who was passing, kindly gave them a dressage hand - her help certainly showed.

As for CF, he’s going very well. At Aston we came 6th in the Advanced and at Wellington Advanced we were 10th. We hope to finish the season at Little Downham, although I doubt we’ll improve on our 6th – that was our ‘winning Badminton’ moment.
